Communication students from Tarlac State University (TSU) have officially secured a spot among the Top 15 teams advancing to the Grand Championship of the Communications Olympiad 2025, solidifying TSU’s reputation as one of the country’s emerging powerhouses in strategic communication.
The team, composed of Romer L. Madrid (4th Year, Project Leader), Heleina Anjela M. Quesada (4th Year, Head Researcher), Angilene B. Dableo (4th Year, Designer), Jael C. Tabanao (3rd Year, Lead Presenter), and Clarise Ann B. Dacanay (3rd Year, Writer).
After excelling in the Elimination Round against 22 other universities, completing an intensive three-day Training Camp, enduring a 24-hour Hackathon, and presenting a comprehensive Strategic Communications Plan, the TSU-Communithink demonstrated their capability to compete with some of the Philippines’ most prestigious institutions.
In an interview with the project leader Romer Madrid, he shared the emotional rollercoaster leading up to the announcement.
“Actually, ilang araw na rin akong kinakabahan at lagi kong binibisita ‘yung page ng Communications Olympiad. Now that we've made it to the Top 15, sobrang fulfilling at thankful ako dahil buo ang tiwala ng Department namin especially our adviser, Ma’am Joyce Nucum,” Madrid said.
“Nakakakaba, yes, kasi big universities ang mga kasama, pero ‘yung support ng advisers at ng mga students mula simula ng laban namin ay all out,” he added.
Joining the ranks of elite institutions like Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and University of the Philippines Visayas, TSU now heads to the Grand Championship this June 27, 2025.
