Parirala IX – “Dancing on a String,” a college-based competition organized by The Oracle, the official publication of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, was successfully held on May 2 at the Theater Room of Smith Hall Building, Tarlac State University.
The event was conducted in partnership with the CASS Student Council (CASS- SC), whose active collaboration helped bring together students to showcase the vibrant talent and creativity of CASSmates.
In an interview with Mandie Asejo, The Oracle’s Editor in Chief he shares his reflections following the event’s success.
“I’m honestly so happy that we finally pulled this event off. It’s incredibly fulfilling because despite the countless adjustments we had to make, we still found a way to make it happen. I’m super thankful to the CASS SC for being our partners, especially to Gov. Clarisse Dacanay and my fellow Executives or our ate’s in Pub. Huge thanks also to everyone in The Oracle. I also want to acknowledge our former adviser, Ma’am Jazzel Manabat, who is currently taking a well-deserved rest, and of course, our new adviser, Mr. Michael John Hipolito, for being full support and believing in us all the way,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nor-janna Merindato, one of the winners in the competition, shared her insights about winning.
“Winning the “Parirala” felt like hearing my own quiet thoughts finally speak loudly in a room full of strangers—recognizing my imagination, my silence, and everything I had kept within for so long. Ever since Grade 7, I had this dream of sharing my short stories, but fear of unforeseen reasons always held me back,” Merindato shared
She added, “That moment wasn’t just a victory; it felt like my words were finally acknowledged, as if they had found a place where they were not only seen but truly understood.”
Furthermore, Asejo also shared his message to the winners of the competition.
“First of all, we want to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined and took the time to share their talents with us. It was amazing to see your work. To our winners, congratulations! You guys deserve it. We hope that you’ll continue to join and support Parirala in the future,” Asejo said.
The event was energized by Chino Brendon Tangonan and Leanna Kaylee Manuel from The Oracle with a special performance from CASS Governor Clarise Ann Dacanay and Chief Mandie Asejo.
Parirala is an annual competition of The Oracle aiming to give platform to every cassmates to showcase their talents, creativity, and literary expression.
