Tarlac State University (TSU) clinched the bronze award in the Short and Sweet Play Musical category at the Cultural and Arts Association of State Universities and Colleges – Region III (CAASUC-III) on November 25.

The team was composed of CASS students Mylene Torres, Kyla Marie Subron, Angelo Magcalas, Justin Lee Wong, and Adonis Jose Jimenez, along with Alyssa Marie Agustin from the College of Education.

They were mentored by coach Dr. Raffy Aganon and assistant coach Dale Calvin Castañeda.

Assistant coach Castañeda explained that the musical aimed to highlight the power of unity and the vital role of the youth in driving meaningful social change.

“Ang pinaka-goal sa play namin ay maipakita na kung magtutulong-tulong tayong lahat at maniniwala tayo sa nagkakaisang boses, especially boses ng mga Kabataan na magiging pag-asa pa rin ng bayan at patuloy silang lalaban para sa karapatan ng lahat,” he said.

He added that their goal was to show how collective voices—especially those of young people—can continue fighting for everyone’s rights.

He also said the students chose the theme themselves, inspired by the youth’s growing awareness and involvement in national issues.

The production emphasized disparities in the justice system and illustrated how those in power can influence outcomes while marginalized groups remain vulnerable.

He said the victory served as a message of resilience, proving they could rise from last year’s loss and work toward reclaiming the gold through dedication and teamwork.

He also dedicated the achievement to students whose voices remain unheard and to Filipinos who continue to struggle for fairness and justice.

Team member Adonis Jose Jimenez said the competition was a fulfilling experience that validated their hard work and preparation.

“It was a great and memorable experience! Talagang pinaghandaan namin ang competition, hindi nasayang ang pawis at oras namin dahil nakakuha kami ng bronze medal. Hindi man namin nakuha ang gintong medalya—ang mahalaga ay naipamalas ng bawat isa ang natatanging galing sa Musical, at mai-represent ang sariling unibersidad,” he said.

He added that although they did not secure the gold medal, they were proud to showcase their talents and represent TSU with excellence.

TSU’s performance not only earned them recognition at CAASUC-III but also amplified youth advocacy for justice and social awareness.
