Tarlac State University Chorale secured two podium finishes in the CAASUC-III competition held from November 22 to 26 at Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), showcasing strong performances in both Show Choir and Standard categories.
The ensemble is composed of 26 student performers, 14 of whom are from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS).
Aligned with the theme “Sining at Kulturang Hinulma ng Panahon: Diwa ng Nagkakaisang Gitnang Luzon,” TSU Chorale earned second place in the Show Choir category with their stylized performance of “DAM” by SB19.
The group also secured third place (bronze) in the Standard Category with their rendition of the worship piece “Alleluia” and the Filipino folk song “Leron-Leron Sinta.”
In an interview, Ryan Joseph Orgaya, a fourth-year Communication student and Tenor 2, shared how the event strengthened his passion for the arts.
“I think it’s the part na mameet mo ’yung mga taong alagad ng sining at kultura. Merong experience na hindi ko maipaliwanag,” Orgaya said.
He added that he cherished every moment of his final year competing in CAASUC, describing the experience as “top tier and memorable.” He also acknowledged strong competitors, including Bulacan State University (BulSU) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU).
“Enjoy and be humble. Do your best, and always remember that if you are not making mistakes, you are not learning,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chrislyn Ambrocio, a Soprano 2 from the English Language Studies department, described her CAASUC experience as equally remarkable.
“Nagkaroon ako ng chance na makilala at makita ang talento ng Region 3,” Ambrocio shared.
She noted that discipline, teamwork, and stepping outside her comfort zone helped her recognize abilities she didn’t know she possessed.
Through the collective efforts of the TSU Chorale and other competing university teams, TSU placed fourth overall in the CAASUC-III ranking.
