The Oracle, official student publication of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, brought home two major and five individual awards at the fifth edition of the Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards (AOCPA) held at the University of the Assumption, San Fernando, Pampanga, yesterday, January 27, 2025.

The publication's recently published Newsletter Volume 12, Issue 1, won 4th Place in the Most Outstanding Campus Newspaper category. Meanwhile, The Oracle's Editor-in-Chief, Angilene Dableo, clinched 9th Place as the Most Outstanding Campus Journalist.

Members of The Oracle also secured top places in the following individual categories:

Chino Tangonan

9th Place – Most Outstanding News Writer

Cenon Pineda IV

9th Place – Most Outstanding Feature Writer

Joaquin Umali

10th Place – Most Outstanding Opinion Writer

Julyanna Bautista

4th Place – Most Outstanding Photojournalist

Angilene Dableo

9th Place – Most Outstanding Layout Artist

In an interview with EIC Dableo, she shared how proud she is for the achievements and hard work of the publication.

“To be honest, iba yung pressure, sabi ko nga, bahala na. I’ve seen how these Joraks babies poured their hearts into every story, how they were pushed to their limits, especially this term, and syempre the countless sleepless nights lalo na sa paggawa ng newsletter, they know and have witnessed the struggles we went through during those times, which is why this means so much to me," she shared.

"No words can fully express how proud I am of these student journalists. This is a reminder that our voices matter, that our stories can create an impact, and that all our efforts are worth it. Their dedication, passion, and hard work shine through in everything they do, and it’s truly inspiring to witness, kaya manalo, matalo, may award man o wala, proud na proud pa rin ako," she added.

A total of 278 entries were judged from 30 participating publications, including The Studio of the Tarlac State University - College of Architecture and Fine Arts, who also snagged multiple awards in their first time joining the competition.

AOCPA is an annual awarding ceremony hosted by Regina, the official student publication of the University of the Assumption, to recognize the excellence of campus journalists and esteemed student publications from different provinces across Luzon.
