The Oracle clinches awards at 6th AOCPA

The Oracle – the official publication of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) earned major and individual recognition at the 6th Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards (AOCPA) held at the University of Assumption on February 27.
Competing with 46 campus publications across Luzon, The Oracle’s Volume 13, Issue 1 secured the 9th Most Outstanding Newspaper award.
In addition to the publication award, members of The Oracle also received placement in the following individual categories.

5th Place – Most Outstanding Editorial Writer
Heziel Ann Pugoy
8th Place – Most Outstanding News Writer
Lexter Kian Pamintuan
10th Place – Most Outstanding Investigative Writer
In an interview with Mandie Asejo, Editor in Chief of The Oracle, he shared his sentiments on receiving the publication’s award.
“It feels very fulfilling and rewarding. We are grateful to everyone who stayed up late and worked hard to complete the newspaper. This award is for all of us—especially our Art Director, layout artists, executive officers, section editors, writers, and artists. It is truly an honor, and we are proud of what we achieved together,” he said.
He also acknowledged that the preparation process was challenging, as the team encountered several lapses along the way. Despite these difficulties, Asejo emphasized that their dedication and collective effort made the achievement possible.
Moreover, different publications in Tarlac State University also secured places including The Work – TSU’s Official Publication, The Bureaucrat and The Studio.
The Work earned major distinctions, placing 4th Most Outstanding Campus Publication and 4th Most Outstanding Newspaper. In the individual categories, Kate Aira Mendoza achieved 2nd Place as Most Outstanding Feature Writer, Allan Tipon Jr. ranked 4th as Most Outstanding Layout Artist, Clarisse Ekstrom secured 4th Place as Most Outstanding Campus Photojournalist, Kleyn Abigail Fernandez placed 6th as Most Outstanding Literary Writer, and Ivan Kerht Manguera ranked 8th as Most Outstanding Investigative writer.
In addition, The Studio received the 6th Most Outstanding News Paper. Angela Joyce B. Rivera was recognized as the Most Outstanding Layout Artist and Allona Leann Octavino Nalo placing 9th lace as Most Outstanding Photojournalist.
The Bureaucrat also garnered recognition in individual categories. Crizalyn Mae L. Pacheco secured 3rd Place as Most Outstanding Literary Writer, Camille G. Basilio placed 7th as Most Outstanding Layout Artist, and James Ryan Navarro ranked 7th as Most Outstanding Investigative writer.
AOCPA is an annual competition spearheaded by Regina the official publication of University of Assumption recognizing excellence in campus journalism across Luzon.
