Cunning Raquel Rivera of Slytherin emerged as the Champion of Badminton women's singles division, earlier at the TSU Gymnasium.

Rivera ended the knockout match - up, with an undefeated streak. Dominating Hufflepuff on her first game and Ravenclaw on the championship round, 2 - 0, an overall tight duel for her final game.

The first set started with an intense rally, with Rivera leading the match, following up with intense smashes from Lois Quinocho of Ravenclaw.

However, Slytherin rep continued to assert her dominance and managed to lead the set with a 21 - 14 score, leaving Ravenclaw, running for a comeback releasing a flurry of unexpected dumps.

Furthermore, Rivera's defense overpowered the opposition with immense agility, catching up with strong saves, the set remained tight, but Rivera held her ground, finishing the match with a 21-18 score to claim the title.

Moreover, Rivera gave out an empathetic response on the advantages she had against the Ravenclaw rep.

"Nilalagnat po kasi talaga siya, kaya medyo di po okay ang pakiramdam niya" she stated

Slytherin rep mentioned the drawbacks she experienced regarding the match. Being less experienced in the singles category, due to her originally being a doubles player.

"Doubles po kasi talaga ako, kaya nahirapan talaga akong maglaro kasi di ako comfortable sa sobrang laking space" Rivera expressed.

Adapting from her doubles background, Rivera showcased remarkable court coverage and composure under pressure, delivered a gold worthy performance that ignited the crowd and solidified Slytherin’s dominance at PalaCASSan 2024.
