Gryffindor House has once again proven their dominance after defeating Ravenclaw in a thrilling final match, 5-3, earning them the coveted gold medal in the Men’s Futsal held this afternoon at the TSU Gymnasium on the last day of PalaCASSan 2024.
Gryffindor’s campaign was initially marked by a decisive win in their opening match against Slytherin. The game was a one-sided affair, with Bryant Santiago leading the charge and overwhelming Slytherin’s defense in an 8-0 shutout.
The championship match against Ravenclaw was a much closer contest, as both teams displayed exceptional skill in ball control and agility. However, Gryffindor’s superior clinical finishing eventually sealed the deal.
While Gryffindor stole the show, Hufflepuff also made a notable comeback in the battle for bronze against Slytherin. The team secured a convincing 6-0 victory after the game was cut short due to an injury sustained by a Slytherin player, leaving them unable to continue.
Ravenclaw, despite their loss in the finals, also impressed the crowd with their strong defensive efforts and counter-attacking abilities. They defeated Hufflepuff with a 3-0 score in the second match to advance to the championship.
Ultimately, Santiago of the Gryffindor House emerged as a remarkable player, driving the offense and consistently finding the back of the net in their matches.
"Matagal na rin kasi ako naglalaro ng football talaga since 11 years old pa ako. And, naglaro na rin ako sa Manila dati, ngayon varsity ako dito sa TSU," Santiago talked about his years of experience, explaining his competence in the Futsal court.
"'Di rin kasi namin inexpect na matutuloy, pinush through lang. Tsaka practice na rin namin sa Intrams ‘to para makilala na din namin yung isa't isa," he remarked, for this is the first time Men’s Futsal has been included in PalaCASSan.
With this victory, Gryffindor's Futsal Team has solidified their position as representatives for the upcoming TSU Intramurals next year.
