Gryffindor beats Slytherin in Women's Futsal Finale by a nose; Calara exits due to injury

The Brave Gryffindor denies Slytherin a lead in Women's Futsal, 4-3, ripping out a hairline victory in the Championship round with a 1-point difference against the clock at the Lab School Court, TSU Lucinda Campus, last November 25.

The Lions managed to edge out unyielding Slytherin in both halves of the Championships, barely garnering a 3-2 tally in the first half after Gryffindor experienced an early game setback posed by their teammate's injury.

After defending their post and tossing the ball to the field, Gryffindor goalkeeper, Arabella Grace Calara fell due to a sustained muscle sprain in her left calf, forcing her to make an exit.

"Sobrang natakot [kami] para sakaniya, kasi delikado yung ganun," Gryffindor Captain Leizel Ann Capua expressed her concerns.

However, Capua quickly changed gears, playing as the substitute goalkeeper in the first half while Michaela Mae Cunanan stood guard in the second.

"Sobrang unexpected na nananalo kami pero ginawa namin best namin," the captain said.

Emphasizing communication as their main strategy, Capua led the team to bag gold while the rivaling Slytherin is left to silver in the podium.

This was Slytherin's first and final match after the Cunning Snakes scored a ticket to the Championships by a default win from Ravenclaw as the Intellects failed to yield representatives in the competition.

Meanwhile, Hufflepuff was forced to claim bronze after failing to get past Gryffindor goalkeepeer Calara's defenses, ending the preliminaries with a humbling 4-0 defeat in favor of the Red Lions.

Women's Futsal is part of the second day games of the PalaCASSan 2024.

Moreover, the Futsal Men's Division will be held on the third day of the event, November 28, at the TSU Main Gymnasium.
