In the heated first day of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Sports fest, Julianne Meneses representing the Gryffindor house bags overall gold in the singles table tennis match on November 23, 2024 at the Tarlac State University Gymnasium โ€” Taunting a 3-set clean finish against her Slytherin opponent, Nickie Agbayani from bachelor of Human services program.

Despite being a first timer in competing for table tennis, Meneses managed to overpower Slytherinโ€™s Agbayani, Hufflepuffโ€™s Suba, and Ravenclawโ€™s Manipon in the round robin match of the competition.

The round robin started with Slytherin Vs. Ravenclaw, followed by Menesesโ€™ gryffindor vs Subaโ€™s Hufflepuff.

3 houses failed to endure Meneses aggressive strategy as she focused on serves and reverse shots as defenses despite the limited breaks per opponent as she laddered to rank 1 in the overall round robin ranking before the championship.

Come Championship round, the battle for bronze was dueled between Manipon and Suba of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, respectively.

Manipon secured bronze, flaunting her reverse shots against the Hufflepuffโ€™s offensive defenses ending with a 11-6 final set scoreline, Ravenclaw favor.

Highlight of the singleโ€™s match is the head-on clash between Slytherinโ€™s slick defenses and Gryffindors roaring offensive strategy.

Meneses tactically overpowered Agbyaniโ€™s services as the cunning slytherin accepted a 8-point disadvantage resulting in a 11-scoreline in the first set, Gryffindorโ€™s favor.

Agbayani tried to catch-up in the second set, but Menesesโ€™ pressured the set with 6-point pile-up aggressing to a 2-0 mid set, 11-5 scoreline, Slytherin disadvantage.

The final match ended with a clutch from Meneses, sweeping Agbayani in a 3-0 set finish, 11-4 scoreline as Gryffindor bags gold.

In an interview, Meneses talked about her experience as a first timer in a college level competition.

โ€œIba po yung experience, since first time ko palang po ito unexpected din po na ako po yung makakakuha ng gold,โ€ Said Meneses.

โ€œMag Prepare po ako niyanโ€ฆ and sana proud po yung CASS na irerepresent ko sila sa intrams,โ€ she added.

Meneses will wear the blue dolphin banner as she will represent the College of Arts and Social Sciences on next yearโ€™s intramurals against different colleges.
