Second-year Communication students from BA Comm 2D officially turned over their Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to selected partner organizations on May 19, 2025, held at the Theater Room of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Building.

The activity served as the final requirement for their course, COMM102b: Risk, Disaster, and Humanitarian Communication, and showcased how communication can be used to raise awareness and support community development.

Two student groups presented and turned over their respective IEC campaigns to the partner organizations they collaborated with over the semester.

Group 1, in partnership with Kanlahi Community Center, developed a campaign centered on HIV awareness. Their materials included posters, brochures, calling cards, stickers, a lanyard and ID design, and an infomercial.

Kanlahi representatives Chiqui Manalang, Danielle Dasalla, and Andrea Rosales were present to receive the materials. In line with their advocacy, the organization also distributed free contraceptives to students following the event.

Meanwhile, Group 2 collaborated with Rehoboth Children’s Home Inc., focusing on the plight of neglected and orphaned children in the Philippines. The group produced brochures, leaflets, posters, stickers, calling cards, two advocacy videos, a short story e-book, and an e-magazine.

Rehoboth Executive Director Amelia Tuquero, a long-time child welfare advocate, personally received the materials on behalf of the organization.

Before the handover, both groups presented their materials and explained the inspiration and goals behind them. Each organization received printed copies along with a USB flash drive containing the digital files.

The event wrapped up with messages of appreciation from the representatives, praising the students' creativity, thoughtfulness, and passion for meaningful communication.
