College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Governor Alexander Ong took part in the recently held Marka PH: Voters’ Education and Empowerment Program, held on March 28-29, 2025, at the City Travel Hotel, Baguio City, and Secondary Laboratory School Court, Benguet State University (BSU), serving as one of the resource speakers.

The event was organized by the BSU Supreme Student Government and the Sangguniang Kabataan ng Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet, in partnership with PH Lead which aims to provide information to educate people on the electoral process.

In his talk themed, “Integrating AFCs with GESI: Insights from the Magna Carta of Women and Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere,” Gov. Ong shared his knowledge and perspective on the importance of the people's right to vote.

“Ang pagboto ay isang mahalagang instrumento ng pagbabago. Ito ang ating sandata upang mapanagot ang mga nasa posisyon at matiyak na may puwang ang bawat isa sa paggawa ng mga desisyong may direktang epekto sa ating buhay,” he said.

“Sa pamamagitan ng tamang impormasyon at edukasyon, mas nagiging empowered tayo bilang mga mamamayan upang pumili ng mga leader na tunay na magpapahalaga sa ating kapakanan,” he added.

Moreover, Gov. Ong expressed his gratitude to the Department of Agriculture – Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Council Cordillera Administrative Region for the opportunity to be a voice on a platform that aims to strengthen the participation of all sectors in the nation-building.

As the 2025 elections approaches, educational discussion programs like Marka PH continue to play a crucial role in preparing informed and responsible voters.

Gov. Ong’s participation further reinforces the call for a more inclusive and empowered youth electorate.
