First-year students from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) joined other freshmen in celebrating Alpas Freshmen Day 2025, on August 13, at the Tarlac State University (TSU) Main Campus Gymnasium, despite a schedule conflict
The Blue Dolphins, waving blue balloons, delivered an all-out performance in the yell competition before joining activities organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC).
With the theme 'Alpas: Ani ng Laya, Pagdiriwang, at Paglaya,' the event featured a barrio-style festivity. Performances by the TSU-SSC and College Governors, TSU Chorale, TSU Hip Hop Dance Troupe, TSU Contemporary Dance, TSU Performing Arts, and drag queens Jaba Mi, Anjo Circe, and Saly Veshan of the House of Vermillian energized the crowd
University-wide and college-based organizations and publications were also given the chance to introduce and orient the freshmen on the functions of their respective groups, inviting them to be part of their roster.
First-year Psychology student Marc Nicholas Manalo conveyed his delight in witnessing the entertaining event prepared for the students.
“Masaya po siya dahil may intermission number na rin po […] and syempre yung mga invitation na rin po ng mga orgs (organizations), which makes it mas engaging na rin po bilang freshman,” Manalo shared.
Manalo added that the orientation helps address most students’ questions, especially within the community of freshmen.
“Sa tulong po ng orientation, mas napapadali yung mga tanong po ng most students po, especially sa community po ng mga freshies,” Manalo said.
On the other hand, TSU-SSC President and Student Regent Brixter Millo expressed joy over the success of the event despite setbacks such as a lack of budget and schedule conflicts. He noted that the council was able to produce the stage design and generate sponsorships, helping ensure the success of the event.
Furthermore, SR Millo extended his gratitude to organizations and students who contributed to the success of the event despite the challenges faced.
“Sobrang thankful din po kami sa mga CSCs, CBOs, and sa mga univ-wide organizations po natin kasi if hindi po dahil sa kanila, hindi po magiging successful ‘to […]. Sa lahat po ng students, masayang-masaya po ako na sumuporta sila sa SSC,” Millo said.
Alpas is the annual Freshman Day Celebration organized by the student council, aiming to introduce incoming first-year students to the organizations and different affiliations within the university.
