Representatives from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) secured top placements in the Mr. and Ms. Tarlac State University (TSU) 2025 pageant held on October 17 at the TSU Gymnasium.

Joy Celine David was named First Runner-Up in the female category, while Francko Sangil finished in the Top 5 of the male division, and both also received the Mr. and Ms. Hey Brew award for their stage presence and charisma.

During the hashtag portion, David tackled #SUCBudgetCut, emphasizing the importance of making education accessible to all.

“Until now, education is still a privilege,” she said. “As scholar students, we should create a future where quality education is accessible and where every student has equal opportunities.”

In an online interview, David explained what motivated her answer.

“As a communication student, I’ve learned and become more aware of the issues surrounding education in the Philippines,” she said.

She added that most of these problems stem from a poorly planned system, which is why she focuses on how scholars like them can maximize opportunities and, someday, help improve it, emphasizing that education is a right everyone should work together to uphold.

Meanwhile, Sangil addressed #PoliticalDynasty, underscoring the need for transparency and ethical leadership in public service.

“Filipinos deserve someone who will lead with integrity, transparency, and loyalty,” he said.

In the final Q&A segment, David was asked what she would request from the incoming university president on behalf of the students. She responded by advocating for inclusivity within the institution.

“By asking for inclusivity, we can create a community where everyone feels safe and respected,” she said.

Aldrien David from the College of Education (COEd) and Louise Angelene Diamzon from the College of Engineering (COE) were crowned Mr. and Ms. TSU 2025, with Jim Matthew Salas of the College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG) joining David as first runner-up, and Nicolas Bautista and Shaina Belle Taguban of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) placing as second runners-up.

The pageant featured candidates from various colleges across the university, showcasing TSU students’ confidence, intelligence, and social awareness as part of the institution’s 119th Founding Anniversary celebration.
