Communication Arts 4B conducted a seminar on career guidance and professional development through “Career COMMpass: Guiding your Professional Growth through Effective Communication” last April 22, at the Theater Room, Smith Hall Building.
The event emphasized the significance of adequate preparation for graduating students and fresh graduates as they build their reputation in the professional world, highlighting effective communication as another factor of growth.
Student speakers Madonna Macadangdang, Althea Joy Sarceda, Michael Montoya, Lance Adrian Garcia, and Jamaica Ignacio started the seminar with a mini discussion as an introductory of the event.
Furthermore, Senior Guidance Counselor, Ms. Maria Victoria S. Mallari, RPm, RGH, headlined the seminar with an elaborative discussion, stressing the key factors in building a strong and respectable character in the professional world.
“Hindi alam ng nakakarami na for you to be successful, kailangan ng pangmalakasang communication skills. Hindi ka magiging successful kung mahiyain ka,” Ms. Mallari emphasized.
“Para magkaroon ka ng good communication, dapat klaro, dapat meron kang confidence, and dapat maganda yung credibility mo na maio-offer mo sa kausap mo. At ang communication, hindi lang basta nagsasalita ka, may feedback ‘yan na dapat meron kang iparating sa kausap mo,” she added.
Before ending her session, Ms. Mallari conducted an activity that enabled the audience to present their envisioned future through a compass map.
The seminar series is presented by the senior students of Communication Arts, held every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at the Theater Room in partnership with the TSU - Communicators’ Guild and CASS’ official student publication - The Oracle.
