College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) students under the Bachelors of Arts in Psychology 2-1 eve showcased diverse Chinese culture in the Mandarin Day event held last Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Smith Hall - Theatre Room, TSU - Main Campus.

The event aims to promote cultural appreciation featuring Chinese language, various festivals, foods, costumes, myth and folk tales through dancing, singing, acting and storytelling.

In an online interview with Reyyha Liza Bedania from AB Psychology 2-1 Eve, she expressed a sense of fulfillment in seeing other groups shine in the center stage.

"Kapag nakikita mo bawat grupo na may kanya-kanyang pasabog, magugulat ka nalang talaga na sobrang creative pala nila, seeing everyone perform with confidence made the whole experience very special," she said.

Furthermore, she also noted the importance of the event in student engagement, allowing students to learn culture in a more meaningful way.

"Hindi lang siya basta performance, it becomes an experience... for the students, events like Mandarin Day encourage participation, teamwork, and open-mindedness, mas naiintindihan namin na learning doesn’t only happen inside the classroom, but also through shared experiences like this," Bedania added.

The Mandarin Day event serves as the students’ final requirement in their Foreign Language 1 course, with the initial plan to hold performances in offices, students raised concerns about the limited space, which later led to a change to the theatre room.
