Team 3 of AB Communication 4A kicks off the first installment of their seminar series entitled Beyond the Curtain Call, which tackled key elements of theater and stage production, earlier today at the Theater Room, Smith Hall Building.

Team member Dean Mar Madriaga talked about scriptwriting, costume production, and other fundamentals of theater. He also highlighted the importance of a collaborative nature in acting.

“Through the perspectives of other people, we gain deeper insights into the art of theater," Madriaga stated.

Fellow members discussed the various aspects of theater production. Myra Pesquera delved into the basics of acting techniques, while Zyrus Galang tackled theater coordination, stage management, and the distinctions between a producer and a production management.

On the other hand, Gwyneth Tercenio addressed the financial marketing aspects of theater, focusing on strategies to promote productions effectively.

Meanwhile, Bea Arceo emphasized the execution and challenges in staging a play, stressing the importance of regular meetings and constant monitoring. She also warned the participants on how often unpredictable occurences happen in theater play.

“Sa theater production, may mga unexpected lagi na nangyayari, 'di lang bago yung show kundi habang nangyayari. Isa itong bagay na mahirap iwasan. Importante na magkaroon ng contingency planning, at ma-anticipate niyo yung mga maaring mangyari na problema," Arceo said.

Moreover, Mx. Norman Elynmer Cortez MAEd, a theater actress and educator from Ako at Kayo sa Dula at Awit (AKDA) in Tarlac Agricultural University, attended as a Guest Speaker. Specializing in music plays, she shared about her experience as someone who works behind-the-scenes.

“Natutunan ko na ang pinaka-maliwanag na ilaw pala sa teatro ay hindi ang mga aktor kundi ang mga tao sa likod ng entablado," Cortez shared.

The seminar concluded with words of gratitude from Madriaga and a presentation of certificates to the speakers, guests, and participants.
