The College of Arts and Social Sciences kicked off the PalaCASSan 2024 Sports Festival themed, Soaring Beyond Boundaries through Relentless Perseverance in the Spirit of Sportsmanship, Yesterday, November 24.
Tarlac State University Gymnasium was mystified as the three-day, Harry Potter-themed sports fest begun, spearheaded by the CASS Student Council.
CASS SC Governor Ong expressing his excitement for this yearโs sportsfest and highlighted
the importance of camaraderie and sportsmanship, values that are central to the spirit of the festival.
โNandito na naman tayo ngayon sa TSU Gymnasium para i-celebrate ang camaraderie at sportsmanship ng isa't isa,โ said Governor Ong.
"Masayang-masaya ang puso ko ngayon, as I celebrate my birthday with you," he added,
The opening ceremony featured the Lighting of the Cauldron, marking the official commencement of the event. CASS Dean, Dr. Aloysius Madriaga, The Oracle adviser, Assoc.Prof. Jose Russell Arador, CASS SC, Governor Alexander Adrian Ong, and MVPs from each department carried torches and lit the cauldron in a moment of unity and celebration.
Moreover, the festivities featured the candidates for Mr. and Ms. PalaCASSan, who flaunted their striking outfits during the sportswear competition, the representatives from the different houses and departments showcased different sports attire such as of surfers, ice skaters, racers, archers, and gun shooters.
Representatives of the four houses โGryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclawโ paraded their banners with pride for the Banner-Making Competition, adding bursts of colors to the event.
Meanwhile, the TSU gymnasium was filled with the roaring voices and stunning energy as the bench yellers from the different CASS departments performed their energetic entries for the Bench Yell Competition.
CASS Dean Dr. Madriaga extended his gratitude and optimism for this yearโs sports fest, highlighting the importance of the event in fostering stronger sports team and shared his hopes for a โmas pinalaCASSโ sports fest that will build a stronger team of athletes to represent CASS in the upcoming 2025 TSU Intramurals.
