The highly anticipated Final Play 2024 saw the exceptional performances of the 3rd-year AB Communication students of the College of Arts and Social Sciences last Wednesday, December 18 at the Alumni Center, TSU - Lucinda Campus.
Sufrimiento from AB COMM 3-1 Eve received the Best Play Award. The production featured an emotional story of a dying couple challenged by the "seven deadly sins.”
Ryan Joseph Orgaya, the director of Sufrimiento, expressed his disbelief and gratitude for winning Best Play due to last minute changes.
“Nawalan ako ng tiwala na kaya namin siyang i-pull off pero in the end, happy ako kasi ang ganda ng pinakita ng group ko,” says Orgaya.
Meanwhile, the AB COMM 3-B earned 1st runner-up for their play Isabela, which explored heartbreaking themes of perfectionism.
Furthermore, the colorful Vhaklarittah from AB COMM 3-C claimed 2nd runner-up, sending a powerful message of acceptance for the LGBT community.
In addition, the AB COMM 3-2 Eve’s Ben Edictio and AB COMM 3-D’s Madreya were also recognized, earning 3rd and 4th runner-up, respectively.
Derrick Serrano of Vhaklarittah was awarded Best Director for his outstanding leadership and guidance
“I don’t want to take all the credit kung gaano kaganda ’yong play because I’m just the person who guided them. So I think the secret as to why I was held up as the best director is, of course, my teammates,” Serrano shared.
Individual recognition was also highlighted in the awarding ceremony. Ace Cayabyab received the Best Actor Award for his entertaining performance in Balat Kayo, while Bea Bianca Manuel of Ben Edictio took the Best Actress Award with her thrilling performance as the daughter of an angel and a devil.

Special recognitions were also given to Mark Ryan Salamanes and Ryan Vistan of Vhaklarittah, who were honored with a Special Citation for Best Performance.
Technical and artistic contributions were celebrated as well during the awarding. Sufrimiento received the Best Concept Award, while Vhaklarittah bagged the Best Script and Best Poster awards.
