Team Main got off to a strong start after securing the championship titles in both the Street Dance and Float Making Competition held today, October 15, at the TSU Gymnasium, in celebration of Tarlac State University's 118th founding and 35th universityhood anniversary.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), alongside the College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG), and College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) assembled to embody the spirit of Visayas in a performance exhibiting the religious and cultural vigor of Sinulog Festival.

"Actually, somehow, 'di kami nage-expect ng gano'n kasobra, kasi ang nasa mindset namin, we have nothing to lose," CASS Governor Alexander Ong said in an interview.

"From our last year's performance parang medyo lagapak ang Team Main, and then ang naging motivation namin for this year is i-level-up yung performance namin, ipakita kung ano talaga yung kaya ng Team Main, and hindi dapat nila minamaliit yung Team Main," he added.

Apart from the bout of the three clusters, CASS bets Mr. Rafael Ross Galamay and Ms. Ayeesa Santos also stunned the crowd in their festival-inspired attires in the Theme Wear Competition together with other participants representing their respective colleges in pursuit of the Ms. & Mr. TSU title.

To kick-start the big opening event, the street dancers along with the floats crafted by Team Main, Team Lucinda, and Team San Isidro, decorated the streets as they parade from the CLDH Educational Institution at San Pablo, Tarlac City, making their way to the TSU Main Campus.

“From Tuesday until Saturday, we will be having a diverse array of events that promises to keep us entertained and engage,” Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Agnes Macaraeg, stated on behalf of TSU President Arnold Velasco.

Meanwhile, TSU Office of Culture and Arts Director and head of the event, Prof. Marcelino Balanquit, talked about the history of the university in his opening remarks.

“This is our 35th year of being a university. Nag-start ‘yon when na-sign ang ating Republic Act— from Tarlac College of Technology to TSU noong October 13,1989,” he said. This also marks Prof. Balanquit’s last foundation week for he will be resigning soon.

The celebration of this milestone serves as a retrospection for every student and university personnel to commemorate and learn more about its root while being engaged in the cultural diversity of its theme, “Marilag: Husay at Tatag.”
