Striving Towards Empowerment and Progress (STEP) held its annual General Assembly with the theme Layag: Ang Bagong Ekspedisyon, last tuesday, September 10, at the TSU - Engineering AVR.

The event discussed the organization’s General Plan of Action for the new academic year, 2024-2025, while also introducing the newly elected officers alongside each college ambassador in their oath taking ceremony.

The assembly was organized by STEP officers in which they catered the student participants to spread understanding and expand the reach of their project proposals.

In addition to this, two guest speakers were invited – Mr. Eduardo Dimatulac and Mr. Dale Calvin Castañeda, who are former members of the organization, to give an inspirational message, advice, and reminders for the leaders of this term.

In his speech, Mr. Castañeda pointed out that leadership is not a one-person job, and that leaders should lead by example so that camaraderie and participation will come around.

"Leadership is just not leading alone... Sa leadership kasi you cannot lead by yourself lang na gagawin mo lahat, ilalakad mo lahat, at napakarami pang iba. And you can never lead alone, kaya always make sure na meron kang magandang pakikitungo sa kapwa mo member," Mr. Castañeda said.

Guest speakers and participating organizations received certificates. For the final remarks, STEP President Arvil Digap expressed his gratitude and hoped that students would also step up and take action for the betterment of the community and the university.

“Thank you for joining us this afternoon, and I hope that you will be inspired by this activity that we presented with our GPOA to step up with us and to strive better for our school and our community,” President Digap said.

Meanwhile, designated officers and guest speakers facilitated a few icebreaker games that awarded prizes to the students who participated in the mid-event activities.

Overall, the event circulated on project agenda, improvements, and plans that will be potentially initiated by the organization in the future once they secured sufficient funds.
