Kaya Natin Youth - Tarlac State University (KNY-TSU) successfully concluded their annual General Assembly yesterday, September 28, at the Academic Bldg. AVR, TSU Lucinda Campus.

With the theme, “Strengthening Youth in Action as Ethical, Effective, and Empowered Pillars of the Future,” the event featured multiple personalities, including Moncada Mayor and Adviser of KNY-Tarlac Chapter, Hon.Estelita Aquino, who served as the special guest speaker.

In her keynote speech, she noted the potential of modern technology and education to induce positive change in society, as well as the vital role of the young generation to be involved in the betterment of their communities.

“You are not just the hope for tomorrow, you are the heartbeat of today,” she stressed.

Hon. Aquino also shared in an interview her advice to aspiring leaders and the current members of KNY-TSU.

“You have to be true to what you say. You have to be true to what you spout. It should not be only in words but in action, and you have to set a good example so others will follow,” she said.

Furthermore, Kaya Natin Chairperson, Senator Bam Aquino, and Kaya Natin Board Member, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, delivered their inspirational video messages where they expressed their gratitude and encouragement to the young leaders of the university.

Meanwhile, KNY-TSU Chairperson, Emil Sacalamitao, recalled the organization’s founding and history, claiming that the lack of student leaders in the university back then motivated him to form KNY-TSU and to develop competent leaders to serve the students under the guidance of their mother org.

He also dwelled on the importance of ethical leadership and the belief that there is still good governance in our nation.

“Siguro narinig niyo na ‘to nung bata kayo or until now, ‘ay lahat talaga ng mga politicians mga corrupt,’ that is a sign of cynicism. Ibig sabihin, kapag yung general population hindi na sila naniniwalang may pagbabagong pwedeng mangyari, that’s the time na we let our guard down, and that’s the time na we let yung mga nasa power to abuse their power,” he said.

The assembly included the oath-taking ceremony for the new set of KNY executives, board of directors, and members, and the presentation of the organization’s Constitution and By-Laws and General Plan of Action for this term.

Beyond leadership development, the event provided a fun and engaging atmosphere with interactive games and activities for the student attendees.
