TSU Psychological Society-COESSE organized a lecture for 1st-year Psychology students with the theme, “Can I Read Your Mind?: A Psychology Student Starter Pack,” today, October 14, at the TSU Gymnasium.
Led by the guest speaker, Ms. Lea Pineda RPm, CHRA, the discussion circulated on the general understanding of psychology, its misconceptions, subjects, possible career opportunities, and tips to survive the psychology course.
Questions from students were also entertained, which gave them clarification regarding their concerns and what their chosen course can offer to them in the near future.
Before Ms. Pineda ended her discussion, she gave a heartwarming advice for the students as someone who also took up psychology in the College of Arts and Social Sciences.
"To survive psychology, all you really need is to love what you do and be kind to yourself along the way, have passion and self-compassion," Ms. Pineda said.
Moreover, COESSE President, Ms. Kyra Rosheena David, extended her gratitude to those who attended the program, and welcomed the students on their journey in psychology.
"I'm very thankful kasi nag-attend kayo ngayon and parang feeling ko ready na talaga kayo mag-embark sa isang fascinating journey sa psych," she said.
In an interview, Mikhail Pascual, a student from AB Psych 1A, said she found the lecture beneficial as it gave her a broader perspective for her future.
"It helped me put in perspective my future in the field of Psychology," said Ms. Pascual.
COESSE also conducted an ice breaker before the main agenda, and despite some technical issues, the program was successfully executed.
