In celebration of World Suicide Prevention Month, the COESSE - TSU Psychological Society conducted a mini awarding for their various contests themed “Changing The Narrative: Start the Conversation,” held this September 27 at the TSU - Main AVR.

Certificates of recognition were awarded to the winners in the Poster Making, Spoken Word Poetry, and Photo Essay categories, while monetary prizes will be granted shortly. All participants also received certificates of participation.

COESSE President Kyra Rosheena David expressed the main goal of organizing the event was to spark conversations and reshape the stories and stereotypes associated with mental health issues.

“As Psychology majors, hindi pwedeng hindi namin ma-celebrate yung WSPM lalo na at very prevalent ang concept na ito sa community natin nowadays. Nag-isip kami on how to make this heavy concept to foster hope and new beginnings to those who are at risk or to those who have gone through or going through this phase,” President David said.

“The main goal is to really start the conversation and change the narratives, the stereotypes, regarding this concept through the artistic prowess of our CASSmates,” she added.

Meanwhile, CASS-SC Governor Alexander Ong congratulated and thanked the COESSE for the successful partnership as the event gave students the platform to share their skills and ideas.

“In behalf of the College of Arts and Social Sciences – Student Council, I would like to congratulate and thank the COESSE TSU – Psychological Society for inviting us for a partnership for this World Suicide Prevention Month competition,” Gov. Ong.

“I would like to congratulate and thank you everyone for sharing your outputs, for sharing your talents with us lahat kayo nang nandito, hindi man kayo nakapunta sa podium pero lahat kayo ay winners,” he added.
