The College of Arts and Social Sciences - Student Council participated in the Project A.C.T. seminar convened by the Tarlac State University - Supreme Student Council (TSU-SSC), with the theme, “Act for Excellence: Driving towards Accountability, Competence, and Transparency,” held at the TSU Gymnasium last September 13.

The seminar brought together newly appointed and incumbent student leaders from various organizations and student councils to broaden their knowledge on administrative processes, strategies, and approaches for more efficient planning of events and activities in this new academic year, 2024-2025.

The TSU-SSC invited two guest speakers to share their expertise and guide the student leaders in filing reports. Mr. Daniel De Guzman, a graduate from the Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a technical staff from the Student Organization Unit, presented the details of the proper procedures necessary for organizing school events and activities.

In his talk, Mr. De Guzman highlighted the importance of not rushing things and following the right process of filing papers to avoid skipping a step procedure.

“Huwag kayong nagmamadali. Mahirap ang nagmamadali sa buhay. Kailangan kalmado tayo, kasi kapag kalmado tayo, mas alam natin ang ginagawa natin,” Mr. De Guzman said.

Moreover, Ms. Janecel Ramos, an alumna of the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology program and technical staff member of Student Affairs and Services, presented the step-by-step procedure for filing a liquidation report and emphasized that student organizations must comply with SAS requirements by the end of each semester.

“Sana kung sino yung mga nandito ngayon, sana pag dating sa dulo kayo pa rin makita ko na mag-asikaso pagdating sa financial kasi kayo yung nandito ngayon, kayo yung nakakaalam,” Ms. Ramos said.

Furthermore, in an interview with CASS-SC Vice Governor Clarise Ann Dacanay, she regarded the core objective of the seminar as vital, for it was meant to educate students leaders about the proper way of filing and completing reports.

“As we uphold, embody, and defend the students, it is very essential to know the different steps in doing so. Thus, the topics presented really honed us to be the leader that our council needs through enhancing our form of giving transparency and empowering our sense of responsibility through working efficiently,” she said.

Following the awarding of certificates to the guest speakers, the session included a question-and-answer period during which the event host read a series of questions. The students who answered these questions were given prizes.

The event circulated on the planning of events and activities and the procedure of filing accomplishment and liquidation reports.

Meanwhile, the Student Organizations Unit and Student Affairs Services expressed their anticipation for a smoother process of filing and completing reports for this academic year.

TSU-SSC President Maria Angelica Freshnido expressed her gratitude to the attendees, facilitators, and guest speakers who helped in organizing a successful event despite of the technical difficulty faced.
