Student organizations from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) participated in the pre-colonial themed Booth Competition, held at Tarlac State University Main campus during TSU’s 118th Foundation Week.

Communicators’ Guild (COMM Guild) won third place with their photo booth, and received recognition during the Awarding Ceremony held at TSU Main AVR, last October 18.

“Napili rin namin na gawing photo booth kasi syempre, para maipakita ng mga Pilipino na nagma-matter pa rin sa kanila yung culture natin na mas maipapakita nila yung pagmamahal sa pagiging Pilipino,” COMM Guilds’ Junior Officer on Internal Affairs, Angelo Magcalas said.

COMM Guild photo booth featured sign props, backdrop with elements of old Filipino pattern designs, and “papag” or “dating higaan.” Soft copies of photos and freebies like “cute stickers” and button pins were also available.

Moreover, TSU Linguistic Society (LingSoc) participated with their “FIZZ & FLUFF” booth where they served fruit sodas and bread products.

“Ang inspiration for our products siguro, since for three years na nandito ako sa Linguistic Society, since then ganito yung products namin. Gusto lang namin parang i-continue yung legacy and naga-add lang kami ng products and mga new menus through the years,” LingSoc President Reicel Anne Galindon said.

COESSE – TSU Psychological Society also joined the booth competition, offering ice scramble products.

Meanwhile, other organizations extending outside the college but also have pioneering CASS students, such as the Space Space Society (SSS), Striving Towards Empowerment and Progress (STEP), and Kaya Natin Youth (KNY) joined in the booth expo.

SSS participated with an interactive and non income-generated project booth, which included the “IGUHIT ANG SARILI,” Pokemon card tarot reading, stickers, “anik aniks,” rainbow face stamp, convex mirror, and more free activities.

“Mainly ang napag-come up namin, we will front the babaylan because during pre-colonial times the babaylan did not conform to the gender norms…Before everything in our history, mayroon na po kaming marka that we have always existed,” SSS President Jeshren Nixe Alviar shared.

STEP sold hand-made bracelets, keychains, phone charms and photo-cards, while Kaya Natin Youth - TSU (KNY) also competed with their flavored soda drink “Juice-Colored Beyoncé” booth.

The campus grounds became a lively market where students got to engage in different interactive activities and try various food products and merchandise.
