Faculty members from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), in collaboration with the Office of Quality Assurance, ignited the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Cookfest with a Thailand dish for the 57th ASEAN Day Celebration today, October 15, at the TSU Hotel – Villa Lucinda Campus.
Faced by six other opponents, CASS representatives fell short but still delivered a great performance and were awarded a consolation prize after cooking a Thai dish called Thai Stir Fried Chicken with Coconut, Chili, and Lemon.
Unfazed by complications encountered with their broken stove, according to one of the participants, Asst. Prof. Nerissa S. Olarte, they made it work at the end and are happy with the overall experience nonetheless.
"We were challenged but it's good that we have a backup... Gladly, we were able to make it work and it's okay because the cuisine is not that difficult to prepare... and the experience was fun," said Prof. Olarte.
The judges were also given recognition by the President of the Office of International Affairs and Linkages, Dr. Grace N. Rosete, who also extended her regards to everyone who joined and helped with the event in her opening remarks.
"On behalf of the Office of International Affairs and Linkages, we would like to give thanks to everyone who participated in this event," Dr. Rosete said.
Moreover, the TSU – Mag-aaral ng Heograpiya, Antropolohiya, Relihiyon, Lipunan at Kasaysyan (Maharlika) Organization graced the event with a performance number before officially commencing the competition.
The celebration of the 57th ASEAN Day is set to continue as TSU faculty members will star in the Mr. and Ms ASEAN tomorrow at the same time and venue.
