The College of Arts and Social Sciences Student Council (CASS-SC) led the College Day 2024 priding the theme, TALAKAD; Bigkasang Samahan, Sama-samang laban, held at the TSU Lucinda Campus yesterday, October 17.
Hosted by CASS Vice Governor on Internal Affairs, Clarise Ann Dacanay, together with the Vice Governor on External Affairs, Ace Gabriel Cayabyab — the program was split into the morning session and afternoon session
In the morning, CASS freshies flocked to the Student Center as they participated in a total of six games: Chinese Garter, Tumbang Preso, Agawang Buko, Sack Race, Catch the Egg, and Unity Walk. Out of all 8 teams, team white snatched the win followed by team orange and team red.
Meanwhile; Linguistic Society claimed overall victory, and best yell and song in the inter-org competition between the student organizations of each CASS department, which also includes the Auxilium Solidarity, Communicators' Guild, and COESSE.
LingSoc’s VP on External Affairs, Emil Sacalamitao, narrated his takeaways for this event in an interview.
“Previously, LingSoc is always seen as an organization don't usually participate in these kinds of activities, siguro yung pinaka take away is yung importance nang pag show-up,” he said.
In an interview, CASS Governor, Alexander Adrian S. Ong, also shared the struggles the council faced prior to the event.
“Tinignan namin lahat ng pwedeng mangyari, lahat ng dapat mangyari... Prinepare namin yung mga resources and yung sarili namin sa mga instances na yon — thus, bringing the success of the TALAKAD 2024,” he said.
He also addressed last year's College Day with the theme, BANAAG.
“From our previous experience from the College Day last year, marami kami nakitang lapses, especially with our preparations and execution of the main event,” Gov. Ong stated.
“I can proudly say na successful ang naging College Day today. Nag-enjoy lahat ng org, nakapag-build ng connections... Doon pa lang ay successful na ang event,” he added.
Gov. Ong confirmed that CASS' next big event will be the upcoming Sportsfest this November.
