Auxilium Sodality, the official organization of the Human Services Department, led the first Human Services Orientation, SerVibe 2024, held at the TSU Gymnasium yesterday, September 9.
The event was conducted to orient the HumServ students for the academic year 2024-2025 while having them participate in the interactive activities for the highlight of the event, prepared by the organization in the afternoon session.
With the theme, “Inside out: Experience the Chaos of Emotions in New Beginnings,” the gymnasium was filled with vibrant colors as they welcomed the students in different year levels.
Auxilium Sodality President, Hercy Jean Salas expressed her gratitude and appreciation to those who guided and helped them in organizing the event, while also looking forward to the future activities in the department.
“We are very grateful to see the students’ effort. Sa outfits pa lang nila and to their participation sa mga activities…hindi rin maisasakatuparan itong event without the guidance and help of our adviser, Ms. Jazmin Joy Dizon, and to my co-officers. Simula pa lang, madami pang nakahandang activities para sa mga BHumMates for this academic year,” Salas mentioned.
Reflecting on what the HumServ program has to offer to its students, Dr. Editha Q. Villavicencio, Associate Professor from the Psychology Department, inspired the attendees with her welcoming remarks.
“You are here not only to gain knowledge but to develop the emotional awareness and resistance that will make you incredible human service professionals […] Don’t be afraid to wear your emotions, to feel deeply, and to use that depth to serve with heart,” Dr. Villavicencio said.
CASS Dean, Dr. Aloysius Madriaga, also delivered his inspirational message virtually, pointing out the three principles that students ought to follow.
“First, empathy. Always try to understand the experiences and emotions of others. Second, resilience. The world may have challenges, but every obstacle is an opportunity to strengthen your soul and growth. Third, collaboration. You are not alone in this journey,” Dean Madriaga said.
After briefing the subjects and units under the HumServ Program, with Auxilium Sodality Adviser. Jazmin Joy E. Dizon sharing how the program is one of the courses in college with the most number of units and subjects offered, she also encouraged the attendees to appreciate and embrace their chosen course.
“The future is bright for you guys. Please remember that your service program matters, and you matter,” Ms. Dizon said.
Moreover, Associate Guidance Counselor, Ms. Mary Joy Manalo, presented all their services in the Guidance and Counseling Unit, while Gov. Alexander Adrian Ong introduced the series of events planned out by the CASS Student Council.
The recently concluded general orientation of the Human Services Department is only among the first feats of the Auxilium Sodality as the program is set to continue in its second year after its establishment last academic year.
