Love is in the air as the departments from the College of Arts and Social Sciences kick off the SAS Week: Isang Linggong Pag-ibig with their booths set up across the Main Campus, offering sweet treats and self-care essentials to the students of Tarlac State University (TSU) on February 14, 2024.
The aroma of Valentine's filled Heroes Park as the Linguistic Society’s “Love fuELS” booth enticed passersby with cold beverages and delectable pastries, including banana breads, fruitcakes, and cupcakes.
“We also have iced coffee, americano iced latte, and spanish latte,” Reicel Anne Gelindon, Junior President of the Linguistic Society, shared.
“Marami namang bumibili, as in, and mga best seller namin last foundation week, ganoon pa din hanggang ngayon, thanks sa support ng mga customers namin. Nag-prepare kami from designs to our products to make sure na yung mga products and yung booth is maganda tignan and masarap din kapag tinikman,” Gelindon added.
Over at the Psychological Society’s “Daddy Chill” booth located in front of Smith Hall, students got to indulge in a selection of ice creams, namely the Freudian’s Lick of the Tongue, Horney's Monay, and Cup of Jung, displaying witty wordplay in their delightful menu.
“Meron kaming mga variation, pwede siya sa buns, tapos meron ding mga cups and cones. Meron din kaming mga toppings na sprinkles and marshmallow,” Jemina N. Saycon, Business Manager of the COESSE – Psychological Society, reeled off.
“Yung concept namin is maka-psych pa rin, kaya yung title ng booth is ‘Daddy Chill’ as a fun way to introduce Sigmund Freud and mga works niya in the psych field," Reigne Leila Feliciano, President of the COESSE – Psychological Society, explained.
Beyond the sweet treats, the Communicator’s Guild partnered with LoveYourself PH and TPH CARES to establish the “LoveYourself” booth, where they gave away free condoms and lubricants with informative pamphlets to promote HIV awareness among the students.
“For this SAS Week, Valentine’s Day, syempre it’s love month, love day, so we came up with the idea na magbigay ng free condoms and lubricants for our safety na rin,” Michael “Mich” Naris, President of the Communicator’s Guild, expressed.
“As someone na ina-advocate rin yung HIV awareness, this platform will help us to promote safety sex.” Naris stated further.
With singles and lovebirds alike flocking from one canopy to another, SAS Week got off to a promising start. The booth exhibition will last until February 16, giving students enough time to enjoy the goods and services the departments have to offer.
