College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) INDAYOG Contemporary dance group triumphed as back-to-back champions in a one-on-one showdown against the College of Education (COEd) in this yearโ€™s Intercollege Dance Competition held yesterday, October 16 at the TSU-Main Gymnasium.

The CASS Contemporary dance group posted a score of 92.33% to dominate their lone competitor, COEd Contemporary dance group, displaying 83.33%.

Meanwhile, the CASS INDAYOG Hip-Hop group tallied 89.33% to bag the second place in the highly competitive dance showdown of six different dance groups from various colleges, where College of Science (COS) was crowned king of the dance floor while College of Education (COEd) snatched first place, garnering 93.66% and 90.33%, respectively.

In an interview with Instructor I, Mr.Daniel T. Dizon RPm, MA Psy, trainer of both CASS dance groups, he expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the contemporary dance competition, despite the participation of only two colleges in the Contemporary Dance category.

In addition, Mr.Dizon shared their key to successfully finishing both categories on a podium, making the college victorious once again in a dance competition.

โ€œSyempre, rehearsal muna. Syempre yung guidelines kailangang mabasa, ma-internalize, then nag-isip ng concept anong pwedeng ipasok sa tema, and so on, lahat ng technicalities. Nag-start kami ng basics muna; hindi muna kami nag-routine puro basic-basic lang,โ€ he stated.

Moreover, due to the controversy that took place in the Street Dance Competition on the opening program of the Foundation Week, Prof. Marcelino Balinguit, the Director of Culture, Arts, and Languages, didnโ€™t appoint a tabulation committee in the competition to allow the judges to decide and announce who would win.

Kung hindi, magde-deliberation pa yan and after the deliberation doon pa lang dapat lilitaw yung winner,โ€ he added.

Winners of the dance competition officially received their trophies with a monetary prize to be granted shortly.
