COESSE Psych Idols took center stage through song and dance in their first ever live Kick-Off Concert, giving a series of performances ranging from solos and duets to group medleys for Psychmates on February 11, 2024, TSU Gymnasium, hosted by Lea Pineda.

Psychmates flocked to the gym wearing their pastel and light-colored outfits to fit the aesthetic of the concertโ€™s theme, โ€œPanorama Harmonies.โ€Krissa Mykaella Cas, COESSE Vice President (VP) on Interest Groups, expressed her message during the opening remarks, highlighting their theme was meant to convey a โ€œcomplete view of any areaโ€ like a cameraโ€™s panorama.

โ€œWe want to express the harmony of different aspects of an individual โ€” the balance the unity and the harmony of different people,โ€ Cas added.

She later explained that they had been preparing the event since the first week of January, but the warm-up of member intimacy dated back to September.

โ€œParang doon nagsimula talaga ang bond and pag improve ng skills and talents ng mga SIGs namin especially the Psych Idols through performing from various events such as MH summit, World Suicide Prevention Day, and few webinars,โ€ Cas said.

VP Cas also listed other setbacks during preparation for the event, such as a lack of manpower for cancelled segments, schedule contradictions, insufficient preparation time, and a lack of practice venues, โ€œNaging suki kami ng faculty room kaka, โ€œMaโ€™am, pwede po humiram ng room?โ€™โ€ Cas shared ananecdote of their experiences.

Kyla Marie Subron, a Psych Idol from Psych 2A, mentioned her struggle during the preparation for the concert due to overlapping academic and household activities.

โ€œAkala ko nga di na namin malilinis mga sayaw namin lalo na yung sa Twice, kaya inayos namin sya nang bongga 3 days before the concert kahit malapit nang bumigay mga katawan namin,โ€ Subron explained.

Despite the workload, Subron expressed her thrilled reaction to the support of the audience during their performances and for watching until the end.

โ€œThe fact that they watched โ€˜til the end means that they acknowledged our efforts para maging successful ang concert na ito,โ€ she added.

Spontaneous performances from the CASS faculty were also a highlight of the event, most notably by College Dean Aloysius Madriaga, supported on stage by his wife, Maโ€™am Criselda Madriaga, who sang and played the guitar.

โ€œItโ€™s a really great achievement, sana sa College din niyan,โ€ Dean Madriaga commented on the success of the Kick-Off Concert.

The event also engaged audience participation by giving opportunities for them to take the stage through timely QNAs, raffle prizes in exchange for audience performances, and a K-Pop Random Dance Challenge towards the end of the concert.

Prior to COESSEโ€™s first live Kick-Off Concert, they had been uploading and holding virtual concerts in previous years.
