TSU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) conducts a student-parent meeting this afternoon, February 03, 2024, via ZOOM with Mr. Dale Calvin Castaรฑeda acted as the Master of Ceremonies.
The event started with a prayer followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the TSU Hymn. The program set its course with Dr. Aloysius T. Madriaga, CASS Dean, addressing the parents and students who attended with a welcoming opening remark. He noted the importance of parent's contribution to the welfare of the students.
Professor Maria Fermina Joyce Nucum, Head of the Communication Department, was then called to present the agenda and introduced the faculty members of Communication Department.
Prof. Nucum proceeded to discuss the important matters, explaining future off-campus activities and tackling the enhanced curriculum for the next Academic Year, 2024 - 2025. She also explained the purpose of the study plan tailored for irregular students.
The study plan will be used as their guidance, directing them on which subject to take each semester that will help them to graduate on time. Assisting students to improve and produce progress is what they have in mind when constructing the study plan.
After which, the meeting was divided into breakout rooms according to year. Each professor prepared an overview about their subject to inform the parents of what they may expect especially from off-campus student activities for fourth-year students such as thesis, special project, and documentary.
Moreover, one basic Foreign Language was added to the Enhanced Curriculum of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication which can be Mandarin, Korean, Arabic, and others.
Internship Programs, Off-Campus Activities, Educational Tours, Research and Documentary Conference were also mentioned for incoming third and fourth year Communication students.
After the discussion, the chosen representatives from each year and section were asked to return to the main room for the election of representatives with their respective advisers for a Parents' Council. The council will serve as a way to involve guardians and parents of the students on future college planning.
The assembly ended with a new set of officers for the newly revived Parent Council. The elected officers are as follows:
