Following last yearโs successful event, the College of Arts and Social Sciences - Student Council (CASS-SC) marked another successful year in welcoming both incoming and current students by hosting CASSalubong 2024 at the Smith Hall Building yesterday, August 13, 2024.
With its theme 'under the water,' the Smith Hall was filled with hues of blues and inflatable creatures that served as decorations for the ground hallway.
To celebrate the start of the new academic year, the CASS-SC offered students coffee and cookies. A photo booth and a freedom wall were also set up at the entrance of Smith Hall for students to enjoy.
Rhoan Joyz Pascual, a first-year Psychology student expressed appreciation for the event's set-up and the Student Council's efforts and made sure to enjoy the photobooth.
"Nasa klase na po kami nung nagpa-kape ang Student Council. But before that, we made sure na makapagpa-photobooth [kami] since sobrang nagandahan kami sa set-up and sa efforts po ng Students Council ng CASS," Pascual said.
CASS Governor Alexander Ong expressed satisfaction and shared the council's planning for this year's CASSalubong and highlighted the council's thorough approach in ensuring that all students, not just the freshies, felt welcomed as the new academic year began.
"Ang preparation namin for this year's CASSalubong is nagkaroon kami ng structured plan, nagkaroon kami ng meticulous planning kung ano 'yung gagawin namin, ano 'yung gusto naming i-provide sa mga students ng CASS; not just only the freshies, but all the year level sa CASS to have a welcoming rights for the new academic year," said Gov. Ong.
"Aside from that, isang evident na nangyari for this preparation is natapos kami ng preparations ahead of time. Kasi last year, if I'm not mistaken, 7am ng umaga ay nagde-design pa kami, but now, kahapon [Aug. 12] natapos namin siya ng hapon s'yempre in collaboration with different organizations; with their help, hindi matatapos ito agad so we are grateful with their help and assistance with CASS-SC," he added.
Moreover, 'dol-PINS' were sold to students with CASS' trademark logo and emblem, while the event lasted for a day.
